The Soulcial Trust is growing and
needs your help
The Trust mission is to raise awareness about social issues and causes in developing countries, in particular for disabled communities and environmental concerns, and to connect individuals wishing to volunteer for causes while living or travelling abroad with NGOs in need of volunteer services. We do this through three major activities – our “pillars”: Soulcialtravel.com, XLability and Green Influence.
About the educational programme
The recent history of Cambodia, characterized by major disruptions, had terrible consequences on its people’s health. The land mines that multiplied during the Khmer Rouge period have increased the number of disabled people in the country. The extreme poverty in the country also means people who are born with disability or become disabled do not have access to decent health care. Today, according to Handicap International, there are 1,226,340 people with disabilities in Cambodia.
The Soulcial Trust’s “Disability in Cambodia” educational programme aims to raise awareness and help people understand more about disability and the issues disabled people face in Cambodian society. The complexities and challenges related to disability are multiple: from education to employment, government policy on accessibility and the social exclusion in society generally. Designed to be presented to schools in a playful way, the programme includes role playing, quizzes and games. The programme is also meant to inform businesses, expat network groups and any other organization. The programme is also translated in khmer.
