Maximising Employment to Serve the Handicapped (MESH) is an NGO that aims to provide self-sufficiency to leprosy affected people by training them to produce beautiful artifacts and lifestyle products and helping them to sell them through fair trade practices.
The NGO creates opportunities for disabled people and people affected by leprosy to achieve social and economic integration by trading. MESH does a commendable job in removing the stigma attached with the disease and rehabilitating patients. It helps leprosy patients lead dignified, productive lives with economic independence.
MESH needs volunteers who can make video(s) about the producers, the crafts and the work of MESH that can be uploaded and viewed through links on their website or other social media sites. Also, if there are any professional film makers with time to volunteer they would of course be most welcome!
MESH trains disabled people to produce goods suited to their capabilities. It serves as a guide in the selection of what will sell best. MESH also assists in obtaining raw materials. It ensures prompt payment for goods to provide constant cash flow and working capital for continued production. It provides guidance to village industries in developing cost sheets which include fair wages for the artisans as well as overheads and profits and maintains strict quality control. MESH secures orders with the aim of providing full-time employment for disabled people.
