It is an NGO that runs a small school for underprivileged children in a slum bordering Delhi (near Faridabad) with around 15 students attending it every day.
Dili Trust feels that education is the only means that can open a window of opportunity for these slum children living amidst abject squalor and acute poverty. It also feels that in India, the ability to speak and understand English can open many doors. So they stress on providing education delivered through the medium of English. This helps the children to pick up the language faster.
They always welcome committed people who can help them with teaching the children in the mornings, or go there once a week to teach a skill in the afternoons, like take extra English conversation classes, computer classes, teach them dancing (maybe break dancing), arts & crafts. The volunteer may also suggest other ideas which they are open to discuss.
They have regular formal classes in the morning each day followed by lunch. Then they have informal group classes in the afternoons. The medium of instruction is only English. Even during break times and lunchtime, the children and teachers communicate in English.
